 1 lb Shrimp/Prawn
 ½ tsp Turmeric powder
 ½ tsp Vegetable oil
 ½ tsp Mustard seeds
 1 Red onion (thinly sliced)
 2 Chilies (slit)
 Curry leaves (a sprig)
 1 Tomato (thinly sliced)
 1 tsp Cumin powder
 1 tsp Coriander powder
 1 tsp Chili powder
 Salt to taste
1

In a pan, cook the shrimp with turmeric powder for 3-4 minutes. It will leech water, drain and set the shrimp aside.

2

In the same pan, add some oil and crack mustard seeds.

3

Add the curry leaves, onions, and slit chilies. Saute until the onions turn translucent and brown.

4

Next comes the tomatoes, salt and the other masalas (coriander, cumin, chili).

5

Add the shrimp. Mix until well combined. The onions, tomatoes, and shrimp should be well covered in masala

6

Add 1/2 cup of water. Close and cook until all the water has evaporated. You can take it off heat a bit earlier if you prefer more gravy.

7

Serve hot with chapatis/naan/white rice and yogurt.
